How do I assemble an EZRack?
-
First, determine where your shelves will be. Mark each Corner Post (CP) next to each appropriate hole. It’s quickest to mark all four CP’s at once.
-
Lay two CPs on a flat surface like a pickup bed or a workbench, one CP on the left, one on the right.
-
You’ll have two lengths of Double Rivet Beams (DRB). 48” DRBs have one or two holes drilled midway down the length. 40” DRBs do not. All DRBs will be installed with the lip toward the bottom of the rack.
-
Install a 48” DRB at the bottom of the CP in the 3rd and 4th keyholes from the bottom with the lip toward the bottom of the rack. Knock it UP into the keyholes. These DRBs will ride on the pallet.
-
Stand the structure upright with the DRB you’ve just installed toward the ground with the CPs pointing up.
-
Now install the upper 48” DRBs in the keyholes you marked. Knock them DOWN into the keyholes. They will support the shelves.
-
Do this for each shelf, making the sides of a rack.
-
Take the two sides and connect them together with one of the 40” DRBs at the same height as the 48" DRBs you've already installed. This can be done with the side leaning up against something or preferably held up by a team member. Install the corresponding 40” DRB on the opposite side. Keep going and do the bottom 40"DRBs last.
-
When the rack is fully assembled lift it onto the pallet. The CP bottoms will hold the rack to the pallet. No nails or screws are needed.
-
Finally, add the shelves. Only two and three-level racks will have a shelf on the bottom.

What are the best practices for using EZ Shipper Racks?
TRUCKING:
- Order all 53' x 102" trailers, minimum 96" tall.
- Try to load racks 48" across x 2 to maximize the 102" width of the trailer. Straight load should get 28 racks.
- If you chimney-stack racks (i.e., 1 rack 40" across, 1 rack 48" across) you should get 27 racks total.
- Negotiate per mile rate on truck vs. hand stack or shoulder stack rate.
ASSEMBLY AND LOADING:
- Purchase an assembly jig. (Average 4-shelf rack assembly is less than 5 minutes)
- A pre-marked corner post can expedite the assembly process by standardizing the heights of the shelves to be built.
- Build racks from the bottom up.
- All shelf supports must be assembled horizontally level.
- Shelf support on the pallet level must have rivets secured in the upward holes of the corner posts. All other shelf support rivets must be secured in the downward hole of the corner post.
- Don't double-stack products on shelves.
- Use quality grade "A" or "B", 4-way pallets
- No need for nails or bolts in racks. This is wasted labor.
- Shelf supports can be disassembled quickly by twisting and hitting the shelf support with a mallet, simultaneously.
- All racks must be assembled properly! Shelf supports need rivets fully secured by the mallet.
- Encourage customers to order in shelf or half-shelf quantities.
- It's beneficial to have 3-6 shelf racks pre-assembled to minimize labor when staging the product.
- Determine the total number of racks needed to accommodate an entire order.
- To maximize racks, put the smaller products on lower shelves, and larger products on higher shelves.
- Load the product on the bottom first to avoid tipping while loading the rack.
- Pre-load racks before shipping to minimize dock space.
